Air Compressor Preventive Maintenance Program
The AirCare Initiative Protect your investment. Maximize performance. Minimize downtime.
Compressed Air Fails Slowly, Then All at Once
A compressor rarely fails without warning. Fluid degrades, filters load, separators
saturate, drains stick open or closed, and bearing wear accumulates — all of it gradual,
all of it measurable, and almost all of it invisible until the machine stops on a Tuesday
morning with a full production schedule behind it.
Preventive maintenance is not about servicing equipment that seems fine. It is about
catching the slow failures while they are still inexpensive.
The Atlantic Compressors AirCare Initiative is a scheduled maintenance program built
around your actual runtime, operating environment, and tolerance for downtime. Rather
than a single service plan applied to every customer, AirCare offers three levels of
protection so that a shop running one compressor two shifts a week and a plant running
four compressors continuously each get a program matched to the risk they carry.
Choose the Level of Protection That Fits Your Operation
Silver — Essential Coverage
Silver delivers the scheduled preventive maintenance that keeps equipment running
efficiently: fluid and filter changes, separator service, oil sampling, belt and coupling
inspection, condensate drain verification, cooler cleaning, and a full safety and control
device check. Every visit produces a written inspection checklist along with any repair
recommendations and quotes.
Built for facilities running fewer than 4,000 hours per year, where a short outage is
inconvenient but not costly.
Gold — Enhanced Coverage with Predictive Services
Gold includes everything in Silver and adds predictive maintenance — most importantly,
routine oil sample analysis. Laboratory testing identifies wear metals, contamination,
and fluid degradation before they become mechanical failures, and results are trended
over time so problems are visible while they are still developing. Gold agreements also
extend coverage to air dryers and treatment equipment.
Built for facilities running more than 4,000 hours per year, or operations where
unexpected downtime carries real production cost.
Platinum — Maximum Reliability
Platinum combines premium preventive maintenance with our most extensive predictive
services and priority response. Alongside everything in Gold, Platinum adds system
performance logging and an annual efficiency review of the complete compressed air
system — not just the compressor, but the treatment, storage, distribution, and controls
that determine whether it performs.
Built for operations where unexpected downtime is unacceptable — continuous
process, single points of failure, or contractual uptime commitments.
Coverage is adjusted to your equipment type, runtime, and operating environment.

Every Visit Produces a Written Record
The most common complaint we hear from plants switching to us is that their previous
provider performed maintenance and told them nothing about it. Quarterly service
happened, an invoice arrived, and the facility learned nothing about the condition of its
own equipment.
Every AirCare visit generates documentation:
- Inspection checklist — what was performed, what was measured, and what condition each component was found in.
- Oil sample report (Gold and Platinum) — wear metals, contamination, viscosity, and fluid condition, trended against previous samples so degradation is visible before it becomes damage.
- Findings and recommendations — anything identified as a developing problem, with a written quote attached. Nothing gets discovered for the first time during an emergency call.
That record does more than document our work. It builds a service history for your
equipment, which matters for warranty claims, capital planning, and knowing whether a
fifteen-year-old machine is worth another rebuild or has reached replacement.
How the Program Works
- We establish the schedule together. Atlantic Compressors works with your facilities or maintenance contact to set the initial service intervals based on runtime, duty cycle, and operating conditions — not a generic calendar.
- We manage it from there. Once the schedule is established, the agreement is ACI-managed. We track intervals, schedule visits, and deliver reports to your designated contact. You do not have to remember to call us.
- We adjust as conditions change. If runtime increases, a new machine is added, or the operating environment changes, intervals change with it.
Why Scheduled Maintenance Costs Less Than Reactive Repair
Emergency repair carries costs that scheduled maintenance does not: after-hours labor,
expedited parts, rental equipment while the machine is down, and lost production for
every hour the system is offline. A failure that shuts down a line for a shift can exceed a
full year of preventive maintenance in a single afternoon.
Beyond breakdown avoidance, maintained systems consume less energy. Loaded filters increase pressure drop, which forces the compressor to work harder for the same delivered pressure. Degraded fluid reduces cooling and separation efficiency. Stuck condensate drains either waste compressed air continuously or allow water into the distribution system. None of these stop production immediately — they just cost money every hour of every day until someone finds them.
Backed by Credentials That Matter
Bill Rimer, President of Atlantic Compressors, is a Department of Energy Qualified
AirMaster+ Specialist and a CAGI Certified Specialist — one of a small number of
professionals holding both credentials in Southwest Virginia. Our service technicians
are factory trained and maintain current certification through the Compressed Air & Gas
Institute.
Better credentials mean better diagnosis, better optimization, and better return on your
maintenance investment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a maintenance agreement, or can I just call when something breaks?
You can call when something breaks, and we will come. The agreement exists because
scheduled service costs less than emergency repair, catches developing problems
earlier, and produces a documented service history for your equipment.
Which plan is right for my facility?
Runtime is the starting point. Under roughly 4,000
hours per year, Silver usually fits. Above that, or where downtime carries significant
production cost, Gold or Platinum is the better match. We will help you decide.
Do you cover equipment you did not sell?
Yes. AirCare agreements cover all makes and models. Our technicians are factory trained across all major compressed air
manufacturers.
Does the program cover air dryers and treatment equipment, or only the compressor?
Gold and Platinum plans include air treatment equipment service. Drying and filtration affect system performance as much as the compressor itself.
What is oil sample analysis and why does it matter?
Compressor fluid carries
evidence of internal wear and contamination. Laboratory analysis identifies wear metals
and fluid degradation before they cause mechanical failure — the same predictive
approach used on critical rotating equipment throughout industry.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. If runtime, equipment, or operating conditions change,
we adjust the agreement accordingly.
Find the Right Plan for Your System
Whether you operate a single compressor or manage a complete multi-machine
compressed air system, the AirCare Initiative provides the proactive maintenance your
equipment needs to run reliably.
